Yabbies

Put the yabby nets out for the first time the another night.

Caught quiet a few!

 

 

 

 

Vicki cooked them up in a garlic and cream sauce and we had them with rice and mashed potatoes. Very nice but it does take a lot of yabbies to make a meal.

As this was our first time at catching yabbies the nets will certainly go in at any waterhole we camp at from now on. However because the river water is still fairly cold the yabbies are not prolific yet. According to locals yabbies do not come out of their holes until the river warms a bit. It is a bit of a shock when day temperatures are in the mid 30C’s to pour a bucket of what feels like very cold river water over yourself.
