Only stopped in Mt Isa for fuel, we had been in The Isa before and there was nothing we wanted to see or do there. The caravan parks there are predominantly full of cabins catering to miners and support staff and caravans are squashed into a very small area, well that was our experience anyway.
Just past Isa is the abandoned uranium mine of Mary Kathleen but as we had explored that last year we didn’t go in. We also didn’t go to the Corella Dam free camp as bush fires seemed to be all around it. So we decided to overnight at Cloncurry.
Its still very hot and both us and the car are overheating and have to have regular intakes of liquid. We are not to bad, a couple of cold beers of an evening soon cools us down, with the help of the caravan park swimming pool of course. The car is a bit of a worry as it is using coolant and we don’t know why, everything tests okay. When we get where there is a large Nissan dealer I will see if they can provide a solution.
We have decided to make for Harvey Bay where it will be a lot cooler and we can swim. 26C for the last few days compared to 40C here. So if anybody feels like a swim at Harvey Bay give us a call!
Going to spend another night here at Cloncurry before heading south east.
